Between
1960 and 1990, South Korea's economic growth surpassed far wealthier
countries such as Brazil and Argentina, to become the world's 11th
most powerful economy.
Although China has had the same written language for over 2,000 years,
Chinese speak hundreds of dialects, sometimes making communication
difficult. Mandarin, spoken by over 867.2 million people, is China's
official language.
Canada's exports to Indonesia doubled in 2004 over 2003 to more than
$600,000,000 with wood pulp and cereal heading the list.
U.S. multinational companies have grown 25% from 1995 to 2005 to over
30,600. That's nearly 700 per state!
US, Japanese, and Chinese all played a role in being economic locomotives
for the region, resulting in an unweighted growth rate of 6.2% for
the 13 economies covered in the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada’s
